Welcome to Editors Québec, a branch of Editors Canada!

Mission

Our mission is to develop and support our community of multilingual editors, encourage and mentor aspiring editors, and offer all Editors Québec members and student affiliates opportunities to advance their professional editorial skills in French and English.

Vision

Editors Québec proudly represents French- and English-speaking editing professionals from Québec and elsewhere. We give our members and student affiliates a voice on the national executive committee of Editors Canada.

Our vision is to encourage and demonstrate the value of bilingualism in professional editing in Québec and Canada. We do this by ensuring that our members have access to programs, resources and communications in both official languages.

About Editors Québec

Our branch was created in 2003 to meet the needs of members in eastern Canada and support their professional development. The section was initially known as Québec-Atlantique, but after a restructuring in 2018, the name officially changed to Editors Québec.

Editors Québec’s executive committee meets about eight times between September and June; minutes of these meetings are always available on request. Our annual general meeting is held in late May or early June, where we present the annual report and elect the volunteer executive committee for the coming year. You can find a complete description of the Editors Québec executive committee roles and responsibilities here.

Our executive committee organizes quarterly networking events and exciting professional development opportunities throughout the year. We also inform our members of the services and events offered by Editors Canada.

View live webinars and recordings provided on the Editors Canada website. Members and student affiliates can register for and view past webinars at reduced rates.

Mentoring

Part of our mission is to encourage and mentor people starting their editing careers in Québec. We invite those seeking professional advice to contact us at any time. We are available to discuss your concerns and see how we can help you achieve your goals.

Editors Canada offers a formal mentoring program. It allows members to develop one-on-one relationships with other members or student affiliates with the experience and skills they seek. You must be a member or student affiliate to participate in the program. If you are not yet a member, visit the Join Editors Canada page for membership types, annual fees and benefits.
